Word Recall: how a round works

Choose a round of Word Recall and settle into its rules. Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Check the rule that explains your first action. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Included vocabulary and random repeats; a game, not a medical memory assessment.

One thing to notice as you play

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Refer to the controls when needed.

The purpose of your moves

Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Start with a deliberate move.

Follow these playing steps

  1. Read each displayed word.
  2. Choose New word or Seen before.
  3. Remember words from this round only.
  4. Three mistakes end the round.

Getting comfortable with the controls

Click or tap one of the two answer buttons. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. A new-round button replaces the current round.

Try this example

PLANT seen earlier in the same round requires Seen before. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Notice the change in the playing area.

Check this before moving on

A word from an earlier round does not count as seen now. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
