Block Puzzle: rules and examples

Start Block Puzzle by looking at the playing area and its controls. Place pieces and clear rows/columns until no offered shape fits. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Place shapes on an 8×8 board and clear full lines. The round ends when none of the current shapes fits.

Take a closer look while playing

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Notice the feedback after each input.

The objective of a round

Place pieces and clear rows/columns until no offered shape fits. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

From the start of a round

  1. Select a shape.
  2. Select its top-left board position.
  3. Clear full rows and columns.
  4. Use all three offered pieces to receive a new set.

Getting comfortable with the controls

Select a piece, then a board cell. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

Work through an example

One placement can clear both a row and a column. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

Pieces cannot rotate in this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
